What is power?
Asymmetrical Control over desired resources.
It changes how we see one another.
What does power depend on
Context and circumstance
It comes into play when there is a dipsity in power
If you have relatively less power how will that disbart impacton you?
You’ll tend to see things as more accurate (IE: NOT ALWAYS correct)
A powerful person will be more biased towards what they want.
What are the positive aspects of power?
More abstract, big picture thinking
Increased optimism and self assurance
More persistence and effort
What’s a mixed affect of power?
More riskier behaviour
What are the bad sides of power?
More selfish and jerky behaviour
More likely to cheat/tell lies
What’s motor resonance
Watching someone else do a task activity/activates similar neural circusy in the mind
Wht’s cognitive load?
Managng mental resources to ensure we can focus on important stuff
Why do powerful people pay less attention to the poweless
If less powerful what impact an you have on them.
This intensifies phase 1 automatic assumption making
How can you make a powerful person take notice?
Help them accomplish their goals
How can you help them
What do you offer
How do your goals align with theirs
