Prince Henry the Navigator:
He set up a school of navigation at Sagres, which brought together cartographers, instrument makers, astronomers and experienced sailors.
He only ever sponsored journeys and never went them himself.
He set up trading links with African leaders
Bartalomeu Dias:
In 1487, Dias rounded the southern tip of Africa, now called the Cape of Good Hope (originally called Cape of Storms as he lost sight of land for 13 days in January 1488).
Vasco Da Gama:
In 1497, Da Gama continued sailing up the Eastern African coast.
From modern day Kenya to Calicut, India.
This trip took 2 years. He was the one who found India via the sea route.
It led the Spanish to also trade with Goa, India just abound Calicut
