- Spain and Portugal signed the treaty to avoid war.
- Other conflicts: Britain and Spain (1585 - 1604); France and Spain (1595 - 1598); and France and Britain (1756 - 1763).

- Because of the slaves who worked in the Andes, Spain got tons of gold and silver and became the most powerful country in Europe 1500s - 1600s.
- Italys power declines as trade shifted away from its city states and to the Atlantic Coast.

A
- The exchange of goods and animals between Europe and the Americas like horses, cattle, sheep, new farming methods and new technologies (like steel) to the Americas.
- Potatoes, chillies, avocado, cocoa, coffee, tobacco and tomatoes reached Europe.
