Q

What is the first form of the Ontological argument?

A

We have an idea of God
Our idea of God is that than which nothing greater can be conceived
Either this exists just in intellectu or also in re
If its in intellectu, it cannot be the greatest thing conceived
Therefore we must think of God as existing

16
Q

What is the 2nd form of the ontological argument?

A

God is that than which nothing greater can be conceived
It is greater to be necessary than contingent
If god is not necessary a greater being can exist which is impossible
therefore God must be necessary and exist

17
Q

What does Anselm state necessary existence is in God?

A

Inherent and a predicate

18
Q

What are Anslem’s propositions about God?

A

analytic existential propositions

19
Q

How did Descartes develop the onto?

A

Descartes attempted to prove as an imperfect being he could not think of a perfect being, therefore the concept must originate FROM the perfect being

20
Q

How did Malcolm develop the onto?

A

If God could exist, he does exist since he cannot not exist. God either does not exist, exists contingently or exists necessarily but the first two claims are illogical
