What did the decree on titles do?
Abolished titles and class ranks.
What did the decree on land do?
Gave the peasants the land that they worked on.
What did the decree on peace do?
Ended the war.
What was the new government called?
The congress of soviets voted for the creation of a new government. It was called Sovnarkom and Lenin was the chairman.
What was the signal for the beginning of the revolution?
A blank firing from the battleship Aurora. The following day on the 25th of October, the Bolsheviks announced that they were the new government.
What did the MRC occupy?
Important post and telegraph offices and key railway stations. This gave control of the infrastructure to the city to the Bolsheviks and hindered the government from summoning help.
When did the MRC begin it’s attack on the provisional government?
The 24th of October 1917.
What was the June Offensive and why was it unpopular?
Aimed to push back the Austro-Hungarians. Was unpopular because it was a continuation of the war.
Who was Trotsky?
Trotsky led the red army from March 1918 to January 1925. He was a socialist and a marxist.
Who was Lenin?
Russian revolutionary, politician and political theorist. Came up with the April Theses which could be summed up as ‘Peace, land and bread’. Further left wing than other revolutionaries at the time.
What was the MRC?
Military revolutionary committee
