Q

Why were relations with China difficult?

A

The Comintern insisted that the CCP work with the Nationalists in the 1920s in pursuit of revolution and this proved to be disastrous in a conflict in 1927 that led to many communists being killed. Despite this the USSR still insisted on this policy of working with the Nationalists.
