16
Q

Describe the thalamus

A

Nuclei that passes information between cerebral cortex, spinal cord, and brain stem.

17
Q

Describe the function of the thalumus

A

Sensory information aside from the sense of smell can be processed here.

18
Q

Describe the hypothalumus

A

Inferior and anterior to the thalumus that is also a collection of nuclei which function in in regulating homeostasis

19
Q

Desrcibe the function of the hypothalumus

A

Regulating homeostasis and is in charge of the autonomic nervous system and endocrine system through the anterior pituitary gland.
It’s also involved with memory and emotion in the limbic system

20
Q

Describe the brainstem

A

The midbrain and hindbrain(pons and medulla) that emerges from the vertsl surface of the forebrain that tapers down into the spinal cord.

21
Q

Describe the function of the brain stem

A

The midbrain regulates sensory information of visual, auditory, and somatosensory spaces
The pons is mainly functioned in connecting the brainstem with the cerebellum as well as regulating cardiovascular and resperitory systems

22
Q

Desrcribe the cerebellum

A

It’s essentially a smaller brain located on the inferior, posterior portion of the brain.

23
Q

Describe the function of the cerebellum

A

Comparing information from the cerebrum with sensory feedback

24
Q

Describe the structure of the spinal cord

A

A long, thick cord devided into various sections marked by external structures

25
Q

Where do axons enter the spinal cord?

A

through the posterior side through the dorsal nerve root or on the anterior side adjacents

26
Q

Describe the difference between anterior and posterior nerve roots in the spinal cord

A

The posterior region is responsible for sensory and the anterior region is responsible for motor function

27
Q

Describe the levels of the veterbratal column from superior to inferior

A

Cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and sacral

28
Q

Neurons

A
