What was Hitler’s view about different races?
He viewed humanity as consisting of a hierarchy of races: the Jews, black peole and the Slavs were inferior races while the Aryan people were the ‘master race’
What was a recurring theme of the Roma, homosexuals, Jews etc.?
Removing racial enemies was common through much of the more extreme Nazi propaganda of the 1920s for example sterilisation and killing of Jewish women and children as well as men as they we classified as germss and having to be ‘eliminated’

‘People’s community’-People living together in Germany however twisted by Nazi ideology e.g. ruthlessly eliminating all un-German elements

Reserved for those of Aryan race, members of which were expected to be genetically healthy, socially efficient and politically reliable

‘Living Space’-Germany destiny to ‘lay in the east’ and Germanise eastern lands and bring ‘Lost Germans’ back to the Reich

How did the Nazis use sterilization in 1933?
In July 1933, Nazis introduced Sterilisation law which made sterilisation compulsory for certain categories of ‘inferiors’
How did the Nazis further amend the laws towards sterilisation?
Later amendments permitted sterilisation of children over 10 years and two years later the law was amended to permit abortions in cases where those deemed suitable for sterilisation were already pregnant- over 38 year old women were sterilised in 1936
How many people were sterilised under the Third Reich?

When did the Nazis authorise the use of Euthanasia?
By October 1939, they had authorised euthanasia for the mentally and physically disabled due to the threat to ‘racial hygiene’
How did innocent disabled children die due to this and how many died?
Parents were told their children were getting the ‘very best treatment’ even though they were starved to death or given lethal injections- 5000 innocent died

Who were Asocials for the Nazis?
Covered a wide range of people deemed to be social outcasts- e.g. beggars, tramps, alcoholics, prostitutes etc.
How did the Nazis ‘deal’ with Asocials?
- In September 1933, began mass round-up of ‘tramps and beggars’
- Sent ‘orderly’ (those with no convictions and fit) to work and sent ‘disorderly’ to concentration camps
- In 1938 further round up of beggars, tramps etc. and sent to Buchenwald concentration camp where few survived harsh treatment
How did the Nazis treat homosexuals?
- In May 1933, Nazi students attacked Institute of Sex Research (gay) and burned its library
- In 1934 SS eliminated Nazi SA who were homosexuals
- 100,000 men arrested for homosexuality
- Many of imprisoned subjected to ‘voluntary castration’
- About 60% of gay people died in concentration camps if they would not abandon sexual orientation
- Lesbians were considered ‘asocial’ and not degenerate
