The Nature Of God (As One) Flashcards
What do Jews believe about God?
Judaism is a monotheistic religion and therefore there is only one God who created the universe out of nothing.
Why do they beleive there is only one God
The shema prayer,a prayer in which Jews say every morning a night, is clear proof of this to Jews as it Says “ Adonai Echad” which means the Lord is one
What do Jews do to remind them that the Lord Is one?
1) The belief that there is one God is shown in the design of the synagogue. Jews do not have statues in synagogues to remind them that only the almighty should be worshiped and to follow the command to not “worship false idols”
2)Many Jewish families will touch the mezzuzah case (that contains a scroll with the shema on it) on their front door and then kiss their fingers to remind them that their family should according to the words of the shema prayer
