A
Lasts about 28 days
Cycle stops when a woman is pregnant

Day 1
A
Bleeding from vagina (menstruation) begins. Caused by loss of uterus lining, with a little blood.

Day By the end of day 5- 13
A
Loss of blood stops. The lining of the uterus begins to re grow and an egg cell starts to mature in ovary

Day 14
A
Mature egg cell released from ovary. Ovulation. Egg cell travels through oviduct towards uterus

15-28
A
The egg cell does/does not meet with aa sperm
If not, the lining of uterus breaks down and cycle starts again

Corpus luteum
A
Once the egg has been released the structure left behind in the ovary is the corpus luteum
This continues to make oestrogen and starts releasing progesterone, essential hormones in pregnancy
