What happens at stage 2 of the menstrual cycle?
The uterus lining is repaired
What happens at stage 3 of the menstruated cycle?
An egg develops and is released this is called ovulation
What happens at stage 4 of the menstrual cycle?
The lining is maintained
Then the process starts again
What is FSH?
It is follicle stimulating hormone.
It is released from the pituitary gland .
Causes an egg to mature In a ovary
Stimulates oestrogen production
What is oestrogen?
Released by the ovaries.
Causes lining of uterus to thicken and grow.
Stimulates LH
What is LH?
Luteinising hormone.
Released by pituitary gland .
Stimulates ovulation at day 14. Egg is released .
Causes the egg to develop and secrete progesterone.
What is progesterone?
Egg Released by after ovulation . Maintains uterus lining Inhibits LH and FSH release When low , and oestrogen level low uterus lining break down . When low allows FSH and LH to Increase
