What is menstruation?
When the egg isn’t fertilized, the uterine lining starts getting broken down.
How long does menstruation last for?
5-7 days
What happens from day 14-28?
The uterus lining continues to thicken up in preparation for possible implantation in the next cycle
What role does oestrogen take in menstruation?
-Levels rise from day 1-14
-Causes uterine wall lining to thicken
-Allows egg to mature
What role does progesterone take in menstruation?
-maintains thickening of the uterine wall lining
-stimulates FSH and LH production
-If there is no fertilisation, levels drop and menstruation occurs
