Definition of Terms
It is an auxiliary branch of laboratory medicine which deals with the examination by various chemical, microscopic, bacteriologic, and other medical laboratory procedures or techniques which will aid the physician in the diagnosis, study, and treatment of the disease and in the promotion of health in general.
Medical Technology
A duly registered physician who is specially trained in methods of laboratory medicine.
Pathologist
A person who engages in the work of medical technology under the supervision of a Pathologist or a licensed physician, and who having passed the prescribed course of training and examination.
Medical Technologist
A person who not being a graduate of BSMT/BSH but having passed the civil service examination, and performs the work of an RMT under supervision.
Medical Technician
A clinical laboratory, office, agency, clinical, hospital, or sanitarium duly approved by the DOH or its authorized agency.
