What is the structure and function of the lymphatic system?
Network of organs, lymph nodes and lymph vessels that make and move lymph fluid from tissues into the bloodstream
What does a spleen do?
Removes old red blood cells
What is a thymus?
Where T lymphocytes (T-cells) mature
What is bone marrow?
Generates lymphocytes
What do tonsils and adenoids do?
Filter bacteria and viruses
What is Lymph fluid?
Colorless liquid, rich with white blood cells called lymphocytes. They attack bacteria in the blood
What are Lymph nodes?
Bean-shaped structures that filter out bacteria and viruses from the lymph fluid. Swollen lymph nodes is often a sign of infection
