The Kornilov coup Flashcards

1
Q

What happened between Kornilov and Kerensky?

A

Kerensky wanted to restore order to Petrograd by taking out the Soviets, so he asked the General commander of the army to come with his most trusted troops to defeat them.
Kornilov had a different idea so he took his soldiers and tried to make Russia a military dictatorship, so Kerensky cut ties with Kornilov.

Q

What happened to Kerensky’s reputation?

A

It plummeted as his generals distrusted him because he went to the Bolsheviks for help. The Provisional Government was seen as weak and had no civilian or military backing, as the citizens were on the Bolsheviks side and the military couldn’t be trusted
