What was the first Intolerable Act?
The Boston Harbor was to be closed from ALL trade until the Tea was paid off.
What was the second Intolerable Act?
Massachusetts was not allowed to have a town Meeting unless given permission by the colonial governor. Anyone accused of murder would be tried in England.
What else happened as a result of the Boston Tea Party?
- British troops were increased
- bostonians refused to pay for the tea
How did the other colonies help Boston?
- merchants from other cities closed their shops in protest
- other colonies sent money, food, and supplies to help Boston
What was the first Continental Congress?
In September of 1774, 50 leaders from 12 colonies gathered in Philadelphia, each one called delegates. The delegates agreed to send a peaceful letter to the king and boycott goods until the Intolerable Acts were repealed.
What did colonists do in case the boycott didn’t work?
The formed militias, or local armies made of the ordinary farmers, blacksmiths, etc. New England militias were called the Minutemen, who were ready to fight in 60 seconds.
