What are the key components of an assessment interview?

Formulate diagnosis in some cases although must consider the effect of a label.
Determine type of treatment.
Form foundation of therapeutic relationship- set goals, reduce apprehension etc.

What is the structure of the interview and what important history do you need to gain?

Most are semi-structured, general plan but flexible order.

Include: psych hx/treatment, edu/work hx, MSE, social/developmental hx, fan/marital hx

description physical appearance, thought processes, mood and affect (altertness, motivation, passivity), level of consciousness, perception, orientation to people

Social skills (on time, articulate etc)
Congruence between behaviour and reports
