A

Formulate diagnosis in some cases although must consider the effect of a label.
Determine type of treatment.
Form foundation of therapeutic relationship- set goals, reduce apprehension etc.

A

Most are semi-structured, general plan but flexible order.

Include: psych hx/treatment, edu/work hx, MSE, social/developmental hx, fan/marital hx

A

Mental state examination:
description physical appearance, thought processes, mood and affect (altertness, motivation, passivity), level of consciousness, perception, orientation to people
