Confidentiality
Can disclose to supervisor. Informed consent about risk of harm- alert authority, mandatory reporter if committed a crime serious enough to incur jail time.
What is it mandatory to notify?
Abuse of a minor: physical/sexual abuse, psych harm in family violence, medical neglect- reports made to FACS
What are ethics?
Set of guidelines from a governing board that dictate how to conduct activities.
Professional ethics for psychs legally enforceable but don’t override the law.
What are the three general principles the APS code of conduct is based on?
- Respect for the rights and dignity of people and peoples
- Propriety
- Integrity
What goes in a file?
Record each appointment, decisions made by client, statement made by client, MSE (every session)
How long are you required to keep records for?
Minimum of seven years since last contact unless legal requirements specify otherwise. Records of when client under 18, need to be kept until client is 25.

Breach of registration, conviction of offence that would disturb practice.
