- Failure to form secure attachments = have a negative impact on behaviour in later childhood and throughout life

- Sees you in a negative way because of a particular characteristic or attribute you possess
EFFECTS of STIGMA: = Shame = Hopelessness and isolation = Lack of understanding m=by family, friends or others = Reluctance to ask for help

** DEALING WITH STIGMA = Get the mental health = Do not hide away = Connect with others = You are not your illness

= reaching out to people you trust can mean you get the support you need - Connect with others
= Joining a mental health support group can help you deal with feelings of isolation. This can make you realize that you are not alone in your feelings and experiences - You are not your illness
= Do not define yourself by your illness - there is power in language
