Why did the industrial revolution begin in Britain?
- Population Explosion (fewer famines, medical discoveries, fewer plagues, Edward Jenner)
- Increased trade(raw materials from colonies)
- New farming methods (crop rotation)
- Plentiful supply of coal and iron ore
- New inventions (spinning Jenny, James Hargreaves)
What are disadvantages of the three field system?
1/3 of land produced no food Farmers wasted time Land unfenced (animals could wander freely) Weeds spread Not enough food to feed animals Disease spread

It was created by Charles Townshend
AKA Norfolk system
Four fields, different thing grown in each
What were the advantages of the four field system
Turnips+grass restored nutrients to soil
Food supply increased
Animals increased-fresh meat all year
What were the effects of the Agricultural Revolution
More food produced
Larger families
Population growth=more workers in factories
Fewer people needed on land bc of machinery
Enough food to feed growing population.
