Q

Outline what happened at the Calming of the Storm

A

One day Jesus told the disciples that they were all going to go on a boat across Lake Galilee. The disciples got into a boat in which Jesus was already in. Once they were on the lake, suddenly a violent wind picked up which made water spill into the boat. While this was happening Jesus was at the back of the boat sleeping with his head on a pillow. The disciples ran over to Jesus and said, “Teacher, Teacher, do you not care that we are about to die.” Then Jesus stood up and commanded the wind to be quiet and the waves to be still. Exactly once Jesus said this, the wind stopped and there was a great calm. Jesus then said to the disciples, “Have you still no faith.” The disciples were amazed and wondered how Jesus had the power to control the wind and the waves.

Q

Outline the story of the Feeding of the 5000

A

Jesus and the disciples all met together and began to talk about everything that they had taught. However there were so many people that the disciples did not have time to eat. So Jesus decided to take them in a boat to go to a quiet place. Once they left, loads of people saw where they were going and so decided to follow them. Once Jesus got out of the boat, he saw a huge crowd of people and he began to feel pity for them as they were like a sheep without a shepherd. So, he began to teach them. Once it was getting late, the disciples said that because it was late and it was a lonely place, the people should go home and buy themselves something to eat. Jesus said to the disciples, “You yourselves buy them something to eat.” The disciples asked Jesus if he wanted them to spend 200 silver coins on food.” Jesus asked them how much food they had and the disciples said they had five loaves of bread and two fish. Then Jesus told his disciples to divide the crowd into groups of 100 and 50 and sit them on the green grass in rows. Jesus took the five loaves of bread, looked up to God, said thanks and gave them to his disciples to distribute among the people. He did the same thing with the fish. After everyone was full, the disciples managed to collect 12 baskets full of leftovers. The total number of people fed was 5000.

Q

Outline Peter’s Declaration about Jesus

A

Jesus and his disciples were on their way to the villages near, Caesarea Philippi when Jesus asked his disciples who people said he was. The disciples said that some people thought he was John the Baptist, some people thought he was Elijah and others believed he was a prophet. Jesus then asked the disciples, who did they think he was and Peter said, “You are the Messiah.” Then Jesus told his disciples not to talk about him to anyone. Jesus began to tell his disciples that the Son of Man was going to suffer and was going to be put to death, but three days later he would rise to new life. Peter then brought Jesus over to the side and began to question and rebuke him, but Jesus then began to rebuke Peter by saying, “Get away from me Satan. You thoughts don’t come from God, but from human nature.

Q

Outline what happened at the Transfiguration

A

Jesus took Peter, James and John up a mountain to be alone. Suddenly, a change came over Jesus as his clothes became shining white, whiter than anyone in the world could wash them. Then the disciples saw Elijah and Moses speaking to Jesus. Peter said, “How good that we are here,” and he said that he would make three tents for them, one for each of them. The other two disciples were frightened. Then a cloud appeared and covered them with its shadow and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my own dear Son - Listen to him.” Now, nobody was with the disciples but Jesus. As they were coming back down the mountain Jesus told the disciples to not tell anyone what had happened until the Son of Man had risen. The disciples wondered what Jesus meant and then asked Jesus why Elijah had to come first. Jesus said, “Elijah is coming first and he has already came like the Scriptures said and the people treat him just as they please.”

Q

Retell the Request of James and John

A

James and John, the sons of Zebedee, went to Jesus and asked him if they could sit as his right and left in his glorious kingdom. Jesus said to them that they did not know what they were asking for. He asked them if they could be baptised in the way he was baptised and if they could take the cup of suffering that he had to. James and John said that they could do this but then Jesus said that he did not have the authority to choose who would be at his right and left and that only God had the power to decide these positions. Once the other disciples heard about this, they became really angry with James and John. Jesus called all of the disciples together and said, “If any of you wants to be great, you must be the servant of the rest and for anyone that wants to be first, you must be the slave of all. For the Son of Man did not come to be served, he came to serve.

Q

Retell Jesus’ Entry into Jerusalem

A

As they approached Jerusalem, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus told two of his disciples to go to the village ahead of them and find a colt that had never been ridden and bring it back to him and if anything asked them what they were doing, they would say that the Master needs it. The disciples obeyed Jesus and brought the colt to him. They threw their cloaks over the animal and Jesus got on. Once he entered Jerusalem, there was a huge crowd and the people began to lay their cloaks and palm branches on the road. The crowd praised Jesus by saying. “Hosanna, Hosanna in the highest. God bless he who comes in the name of the Lord. God bless the coming of King David, our father.” Then Jesus went to the Temple.

Q

Outline what Mark said about John the Baptist

A

This is the Good News about Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It began as the prophet Isaiah had written: “God said, ‘I will send my messenger ahead of you to open the way for you.’

Someone is shouting in the desert, ‘Get the road ready for the Lord; make a straight path for him to travel! So John appeared in the desert, baptizing and preaching. “Turn away from your sins and be baptized,” he told the people, “and God will forgive your sins.”
Many people from the province of Judea and the city of Jerusalem went out to hear John. They confessed their sins, and he baptized them in the Jordan River. John wore clothes made of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey.

He announced to the people, “The man who will come after me is much greater than I am. I am not good enough even to bend down and untie his sandals. I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.” Not long afterward Jesus came from Nazareth in the province of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
