AO3 free will vs determinism

A

free will vs determinism
- on free will side
- focuses on that we make our own choices and are inflict and responsible by our own actions
- not our biological makeup
- allows us to believe that we make our own decisions
- eg criminals are responsible but can come back
- Disagrees with determinist side
isn’t caused by internal or external factors as event though the approach accepts these factors to influence us, we are free to make our own choice

Q

AO3 weakness

A

weakness
- suffers from cultural bias
- based on western researchers and western society
- has been wrongly related to other cultures
- eg in Maslow hierarchy its hows that non western sculpture focus more on family rather than education
- more related to individual cultures that collective
- They don’t want to become more self actualised
- this is a limitation as it can’t be generalised to all cultures and reduces validly of the approach.
