The Human Nervous System Flashcards
What is Homeostasis?
The process of keeping everything constant inside your body
What are the conditions inside your body known as?
Internal environment
What is controlled in homeostasis?
Body temperature
Water levels
Blood sugar
What does the nervous system do?
The nervous system controls all the actions that our body makes
What does the periphary system do?
The system contains nerves taking information from the sense organs to the CNS and the back effectors.
What does the central nervous system do?
The central nervous system contains the brain and spinal chord
What is the receptor of the skin?
Temlerature, pressure and touch receptors
What is the stimulus of the skin?
Touch and temperature changes
What happens in neurones?
Information passes along the cells called neurones as electrical impulses to the nervous system.
What the neurone chain looks like
Stimulus, receptor, sensory neurone, coordinator, motor neurone effector, response.
