What do you think is the future for magazines?
-physical magazines aren’t going to last very long because online magazines are slowly replacing them
-online magazines will be more popular because people wouldn’t have to go out and buy them->easier to access
-they don’t provide social aspects of it anymore because say you see something in a magazine and talk to your friend about it, your friend isn’t going to buy it because they could have seen it online or found out more about the topic online
-magazines aren’t the main source of information anymore
Why do people buy magazines?
-entertainment and things you’re interested in
-to further understand a hobby/thing you are interested in (information/understanding)
-escapism
-research
-personal identification->we real and learn about other people and their relationships and we might identify with what they are going through (reassurance)->specifically gossip magazines
How do magazines make money?
-advertisement
What is the future of magazines?
-most online things have a paywall eg The Times
-E-zines (online magazines
-E-readers (kindles)
-super niche/independent titles
