Q

what are the main functions of the frontal lobe?

A

-Director of our actions:
-The frontal lobe connects sensory and spatial information with actions plans
-Behavioral control, inhibition of inappropriate responses
Planning. decision making, motivation, drive
-Keeps track of what happened and what will come (Working memory)
* Weights expected costs and benefits of behavior and actions
(Integration of current sensory input with past experiences/memory)
* Guides decision making based on this information( Behavioral control)
* Motor actions
* Adjust behavior to environment
* Impulse control, Resist temptations (short term vs long term benefits)
- Cognitive control
* Selective attention
* Inhibition of irrelevant information/keep focus
* Cognitive flexibility/shift attention when necessary
-Planning and selecting
-ighnoring external stimuli
-keeping track of events

Q

what are the 3 major dividions of the frontal lobe?

A

Motor and premotor cortex
Decision making, Motor planning

  • Prefrontal cortex
    Working memory, keep track of what happened and what will happen
    – Dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC)
    – Orbitofrontal cortex
    – Ventromedial cortex
  • Medial frontal cortex and anterior cingulate
    Error detection
    Weighting of expected costs and benefits for decision making
