parietal lobe Flashcards

1
Q

how is the parietal lobe organized?

A

1)Anterior parietal lobe
-(Primary somatosensory cortex)
Somatic sensations and perceptions
Tactile, position of own limbs

2)Posterior parietal lobe:
Integration info from somatic and visual areas to control movement
Eye movements
Reaching
Grasping
Involves spatial information
-(Posterior parietal cortex (posterior zone)
secondary somatosensory cortex)
-(polymodal cortex input from more than one sensory modality Visual and sensory) (humans particularly show extended polymodal area in posterior parietal cortex
-This area receives both somatosensory, visual, and auditory input and leads to integration of different sensory modalities; larger on R than on L side.)
