What is the Feudal System?
The Feudal Systems aim was that everybody in society owed military service so that way the king could get an army quickly against any revolts.
Who is in the Feudal System?
There are five people included in the Feudal System this includes the King, Barons, Knights, Villeins and Serfs.
What was the Kings purpose?
In theory the whole of a certain country belonged to the King but they shared it and usually owned up to a sixth of the land.
What was the Barons purpose?
The Barons purpose was that they received land from the king and in return gave an oath of military service and homage to the king.
What was the Knights purpose?
The purpose of the Knights was that they received smaller parts of land from the Barons in return for a promise of military service.
What was the Villeins purpose?
The Villeins purpose was to farm the Knight’s land they were often called peasants and could be called up for military service if need be.
What was the purpose of Serfs?
The purpose of the Serfs was to be owned by the Knights this was the poorest role in society.
