What is the function of the lens?
Separate posterior cavity and anterior cavity
What is the function of the anterior cavity?
Hold aqueous fluid to feed lens (over 5mL a day -> drained through the canal of Schlemm)
What is the function of the posterior cavity?
Has vitreous humor for shape
Outer covering of eye
-PC: Sclera
-AC: Cornea
What are the properties of Rods?
- night vision
- low acuity
- sees grey
- high sensitivity
- High convergence
- in the peripheral region
What are the properties of cones?
- day vision
- high acuity
- sees color
- low sensitivity
- low convergence
- in the fovea
What is glaucoma?
Abnormal eye pressure (effect CN II)
What is Macula Degeneration
Donut vision
What is Hyperopia
Person is farsighted (can’t see close)
What is Myopia
Person is nearsighted (can’t see far)
What is pesbopia?
Person needs reading glasses
What is the eye pathway in a dark room?
Retinol inactivated -> high cyclic guanocine mono phosphate (cGMP) -> inhibitory
What is the eye pathway in a light room?
Retinol activated-> activated transducen and phosphodiesterase -> low cGMP -> excitatory -> occipital lobe
