Hypothalamus
Controls release of hormones from pituitary gland
Pituitary gland
Releases hormones that control the release of hormones from other glands
Pineal gland
releases melatonin which is needed in the sleep wake cycle
Thyroid
Releases thyroxine which regulates metabolism
Cortex
Releases cortisol which releases glucose into the immune system
Medula
Releases arenaline and noradrenaline which is needed in flight or fight
Ovaries
Release oestrogen used in the femal reproductive system
Testes
Release testosterone which is needed for male sex characteristics and muscle growth
Fight or flight

- sympathetic NS kicks in to prepare body
- adrenaline is released from adrenal medula
- to return to homeostasis the parasympathetic NS kicks in
