regulated body activities with hormones released in the bloody stream and impact the different processes in the body including metabolism, development, and body growth

found throughout the entire body and serve different purposes
ex. endocrine glands, hypothalamus and pituitary glands
hypothalamus gland
Part of the brain that controls endocrine system, it secretes a releasing hormone that stimulates or inhibits the release of pituitary gland hormones
also called master switchboard
Pituitary gland
the size of a pea, it produces hormones that stimulate the function of other endocrine glands
located at the base of the brain on the hypothalamus, divided into 2 lobes , the anterior and the posterior lobes
also called hypophysis cerebri or master gland
