Institutionalisation
The result of institutional care, the effects upon attachments. An institution is a place dedicated to a particular thing such as looking after children e.g. an orphanage
Disinhibited Attachment
A form of insecure attachment where children experience a lack of close confiding relationship.
Instead they do not discriminate between people they chose as attachment figures.
I.e. they may come across as overly friendly as they will treat near strangers with inappropriate familiarity. They may also be attention seeking.
Usually have multiple caters as usually seen after 6 months
Quasi autistic features
This is displayed as problems understanding the meaning of social contexts and someone with quasi autism may display obsessional behaviour.
It differs from true autism in that individual show more flexibility in communication and more social interest in peers, the severity of their symptoms also seem to diminish with age.
Cognitive impairment
IQ scores are on average 15 points lower than the average child- delay in intellectual development
