What is the earth?
The planet we live on that orbits the sun.
What is the solar system?
A collection of eight planets that orbits the sun.
What are rocky planets?
The closest four planets to the sun that are composed of rocks and metals.
The four rocky planets in our solar system are Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars.
What are gas planets?
The furthest planets away from the sun. Each are much bigger than the rocky planets with many moons. They are made of hydrogen and helium meaning you can’t stand on the planet surface because it is not solid.
The four gas planets in our solar system are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.
What is the Sun?
A star that gives out heat and light. It is much bigger than the earth or any other planet in the solar system.
Without it, life on earth would not be possible.
