Electricity Flashcards
How is electricity produced?
With generators that use gas, coal, oil, wind or solar.
Why is electricity useful?
It can be converted into other sources of energy such as light, sound, heat or movement.
What is a conductor?
Materials that let electricity pass through them easily.
Often, these materials are metal.
What is an insulator?
Materials that do not let electricity pass through easily.
Plastic, rubber, wood and glass are all good insulators.
What is power?
A measure of how fast electrical energy is turned into another type of energy such as light or heat.
What is an electrical circuit?
A collection of components that form a complete circuit for electricity to travel through.
What is a complete circuit?
A circuit with no gaps.
How do you draw an electrical circuit?
Using simple symbols to represent components.
