Left wing attacked Stolypin and his reforms.

Duma co-operated with the government over famine relief.
Why was the second duma disbanded?
The government claimed Menshevik and SR deputies were subversive, and amid the scenes of disorder, the Duma was disbanded.
When was the third duma?
November 1907 - June 1912 - it lasted four and a half years.
What had changed at by the third duma?
Electoral system had been changed to prevent the peasants and working classes from voting so now only 1 in 6 were allowed to vote.
Who was dominant in the third duma?
There was right wing dominance.
Got on better with the government now it was more right-wing.
What did Stolypin do as part of the third duma?
Stolypin was able to work with it and put through his land reforms, even if he did face a lot of opposition.
What changes were made by the third duma?
A law on education was passed, for a minimum of four years compulsory primary education.
Steps were taken to begin modernising the army.
When was the fourth duma?
November 1912 - August 1914
What did the fourth duma do?
Progress in education which supported the previous 1908 law.
Discussion regarding improving people’s heath, especially to reduce drunkenness.
