What was good about the FYPs?

Substantial growth in heavy industry
Trying to do the impossible in solving the backwards economy
Targets inspired people to achieve the impossible
Resources were directed towards the main priority, and in most areas, progress was made

What was bad about the FYPs?

Answer 2

It was corruption that caused the achievements
Items were often of poor quality
Some areas, such as consumer goods were neglected, this made people’s lives uncomfortable as there wasn’t many luxuries
Living conditions remained abysmal as they were not a priority
People believed they were sacrificing their own good for the need of the country in an attempt to produce the ideal socialist state
