What is the name of Trump’s new social media platform?
TMTG or Trump Media and Technology Group, it has recently merged with Digital World Acquisition Corp, (a Special Acquision Company, meaning it is a company with no commercial operations but rather gains its value by an initial public offering of merging or acquiring another company), raising the value of the latter’s initial 10 dollars per stock to 94 dollars per stock. DWAC had acquired 299 million dollars through its initial public selling of 10 dollar stocks. Now it looks like, with the merger, TMTG will be able to use all of these funds. Trump Media & Technology Group at an initial enterprise value of $875 Million, with a potential additional earnout of $825 Million in additional shares (using the $10 IPO price) for a cumulative valuation of up to $1.7 Billion depending on the performance of the stock price post-business combination
What program is TMTG running on, and how has trump violated a licensing requirement of that program?
Trump is using Mastodon, a free open source platform for running twitter-like social media platforms. SFC, the Software Freedom Conservancy, has called out TMTG for licensing malpractice after it violated the terms of agreement with Mastodon by not sharing its source code. A source code is the human readable code which must be provided to any program which outlines how the program was created, how it operates, which includes where the information goes, how it is managed, etc. Not compkying with the terms and agreements of Mastodon will lead to TMTG being shut down and permanently banned in 30 days if the source code is not provided. This problem was found after TMTG test ran Truth, its social media service, and people accessed a website which did not provide any access onto how it will treat its user’s privacy, information, and activity. AGPLv3 is the software license trump has violated.
