Q

Why is the antiquities act at risk?

A

Utah’s Sentator Lee introduced an s.31 bill, deceptively named the Protect Utah’s Rural Economy Bill, which will prohibit any president from extending the protections of national monuments in Utah without having both the consent from congress and state legislature. This will undermine the antiquities act and also remove two million acres of protection in Utah’s Bear Ears and Grand Staricase monuments.
