Biological, genetic theories, if they’re dead they cannot pro-create and make further criminals
What is the death penalty?
A state sanctioned punishment of executing an individual
What crimes receive the death penalty?
Murder, adultery and rape
What countries use the death penalty?
Iran - death by stoning for adultery
Some states in America- usually for murder
What are the strengths of this policy?
Its stops any chance of re-offending (public protection).
Gives the victim a sense of justice or revenge.
Acts as a deterrent.
What are the weaknesses of this policy?
There is a chance of killing an innocent person.
It can be seen as unethical/inhumane when testing new methods ( the 2 drug injection).
What specific theory/theories inform the policy and why?
All as crime is seen as pre-determined and out of the offender’s control.
