Q

Why was transport a major problem for the Russia’s in the Crimean war
Why was the military a problem

A

It took them longer to get equipment to the front line than it took France and Britain to send soldiers and materials from the channel ports.
Russia’s equipment was outdated, their muskets were inferior and there was only one for every two soldiers. The Russia navy still used sails and wooden bottomed ships while the western ships had metal clapping and were powered by steam. Russia’s inshore fleet contained gallery boats rowed by conscripted serfs.
