ethnicity
inherited traits, characteristics, language passed from one generation to the next. A person can have only one ethnicity and it cannot change
religion
can be a part of ethnicity or culture or both
person centred care
Care that revolves around the client as an individual. It is all about the client, not about the worker.
maslow’s needs (5)
- physiological needs (such as food and shelter)
- safety needs (being free from harm).
- love and belonging (the need to be a part of something),
- self-esteem (to feel good about yourself)
- self-actualization (reaching highest potential).
Lower level needs must be met before higher level needs.
holistic approach
the whole person is supported in all five dimensions of health: social, emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual.
Charter of Rights and Freedoms
Freedom of conscience and religion;
Freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of speech and of the press;
Freedom of peaceful assembly; and.
Freedom of association.
Provincial Human Rights Codes
to be free from discrimination in five parts of society – called social areas – based on one or more grounds. The five social areas are: employment, housing, services, unions and vocational associations and contracts.
Rights of Health Care Consumers
