- strong because it’s members join together in community
- jesus is referred to as the head of the church as the body of christ

- people from all backgrounds are made members of the church through baptism
- the church teaches Gods love for all people
- the church offers baptism to bring all into one body of christ

- catholics refer to the church as the body of christ (at the last supper)
• christ is present in communion, the real presence
• accept the authority of the pope as he is the head of the church - some protestants think it is only symbolic
• some think the body of christ is christ’s physical body in human form on earth
• the bible is the sole authority as all christians are equal

- catholics must be christs physical body on earth today and must continue jesus’ work and teaching
- catholics can perform different tasks and have different talents but are united
