What do Jews believe about God?
A
God is: One Creator Law-giver Judge

Why is God’s oneness the most important characteristic?
A
- Teaches strict monotheism
- Have a container holding the shema with a mezuah where they kiss their fingers and touch it
- This expresses their love and respect for God and his commandments, reminding them of his oneness
- Bind tefillin to their foreheads and arms when they pray every morning
- Everything is unified because they are the creation of God
- All of Gods creation is an opportunity to come face to face with God
- Teaches the unity of creation and the need for people to bring unity to society

Why is God the Creator important?

- The first of the 13 principles of faith set out by Maimonides
- Creation is a gift from God so Yes must look after the earth the way God intended
- Life has a meaning and purpose given by God
- Gods creation is good and should be respected

Why is God the Law-Giver important?
A
- The Torah teaches God gave laws to help people look after the earth the way he wanted
- Gave laws to Noah, Abraham and Moses to give to the people in order to keep their side of the agreement
- Forms the Halakhah which gives meaning and purpose
- Part of the covenant with Moses
- Shows God cares about his creation and humans which gives Jews security and helps their relationship with creation

Why is God the Judge important?

- The Tenakh shows God acting as a judge
- The good are rewarded and the evil are punished
- God will treat everyone fairly, making sure justice reigns
- The world is protected from chaos by keeping laws
