The Cerebral Hemisphere Flashcards
Divides the left and right cerebral hemispheres.
Longitudinal Fissure
Divides the frontal lobe from the parietal lobe.
Central Sulcus
Anterior to the central sulcus, contains the primary motor cortex.
Precentral Gyri
Posterior to the central sulcus, contains the primary sensory cortex.
Postcentral Gyri
Separates the parietal lobe from the occipital lobe.
Parieto-occipital Sulcus
Separates the frontal lobe from the temporal lobe.
Lateral Sulcus
An “island” of cortex, lies medial to the lateral sulcus.
Insula
The most anterior lobe
Frontal Lobe
The middle lobe
Parietal Lobe
The lateral lobe
Temporal Lobe
The posterior lobe
Occipital Lobe
Identify the lobes of the cerebellum, and indicate the basis for their names.
The frontal lobe, the parietal lobe, the occipital lobe, and the temporal lobe. They are named for the overlying bones of the skull.
Describe the insula.
The insula is an island of cortex located medial to the lateral sulcus.
What effect would damage to the left postcentral gyrus produce?
Damage would interfere with the awareness of sensory information from the right side of the body.
