Did the Byzantine Empire provide help?
They were a powerful ally for the Franks from 1149 after the failure of the 2nd Crusade but due to their own internal problems provided very little help from 1180s onwards

Baldwin III and Amalric looked to the Byzantine Empire when making marriage alliances

1153 Constance of Antioch against the wishes of Baldwin III and Manuel I married Reynald - took the position of Prince of Antioch
1156 launched an attacked on Cyprus and looted it for all of its wealth - horrified both Baldwin III and Amalric I and may have prompted their marriage alliance in 1158

1169 Manuel provided men and supplies for a joint attack on Egypt with Amalric

1176, Kilij Arslan II defeated the Byzantine Empire - ended hopes of regaining land in Anatolia and reduced their influence on Levantine politics
Why did Byzantine support end?
Manuel died 1180 leaving unstable situation in Constatinople - son Alexios II was usurped by Andronikos who was firmly anti - Latin
