What are fontanelles?
The space between the bones of the skull in an infant
What are sensory neurons?
They transmit sensory information, whilst motor neurons form pathways for impulses.
what are the external and internal parts of the brain?
‘Funny Pigs Order Toffe’ Frontal, Parietal, Occipital and Temporal.
Frontal lobe- control thoughts, behaviour.
Parietal lobe- Integrates sensory information about spacial sense and navigation
Occipital lobe- controls eyesight
Temporal lobe- involved in hearing, helps primary auditory cortex.
What are the functions of the left and rught sides of the brain?
Left brain- responsible for controlling the rights side of the body, peforms tasks to do with logic
Right brain- coordinates left side of body, peforms tasks to do with creativity and the arts
What are the brain imaging techniques?
MRI- create detailed images of the organs and tissues within your body
PET- used for brain scans
CT- takes data from images in a humans body> convert to pictures
FMRI- measures brain activity
EEG- detects electrical activity in your brain
