What are Plutchiks eight primary emotions what does he believe?
They include fear, anger, joy, disgust, anticipation, surprise and acceptance. He believes they are the same for everyone.
What are secondary emotions?
They are not universal and can depend on learning and can vary between cultures and individuals.
The three parts of an emotion and what they are:
subjective experience- what we feel and label as an emotion.
expressive behaviour- what others can see about what we are feeling.
physiological arousal within our body- changes in heart rate, breathing rate, sweating and so on.
What is the commensense view?
Before reading about the theories most of us would take the commonsense view
What is the James- Lange theory?
Physiological arousal occurs first
What is the Cannon- Bard theory?
Once we become aware of the event this information triggers physiological arousal and the subjective experience at the same time.
What is Schachters two factory theory?
The emotions we experience are determined by the label we attach to the physiological changes we experience.
What side of the brain are emotions played?
The right side.
What does hypothalamus prevent?
Aggressive behaviour in emotions.
What is amygdala?
It is involved with emotions such as fear and agression.
What happens during the adolescence stage?
We make risky decisions, experience mood swings, and aggressive behaviour.
