1) C02 from body to lungs
2) Products of digestion from small intestine to body
3) Urea from liver to kidneys
What do red blood cells do?
Transport oxygen from lungs to organs
What adaptations to red blood cells have?
No nucleus and large surface area
What do red blood cells contain?
Red pigment called haemoglobin
In the lungs, what do haemoglobin do?
Haemoglobin + oxygen = oxyhemoglobin
In oxygen deprived areas, what do haemoglobin do?
Oxyhemoglobin = oxygen + haemoglobin
What do white blood cells do?
Part of the body’s defence system
What is the structure of white blood cells?
A nucleus and produce antibodies/antitoxins
What do platelets do?
Help blood clot
What is the structure of platelets?
No nucleus and small fragments of cells
What does plasma hold?
1) Red blood cells
2) White blood cells
3) Platelets
