1st amendment
religion, speech, press, peacefully assemble, petition; Congress shall make no law with the 5
2nd amendment
well regulated militia, right to keep and bear arms
3rd amendment
no soldier in time of peace be quartered in any home without your consent
4th amendment
no unreasonable search and seizure of your property without a warrant (beginning of arrest process)
5th amendment
grand jury required for extreme cases, no person held to answer without indictment, no double jeopardy, no self-incrimination, due process, private property taken only within just compensation (court process)
6th amendment
speedy and public trial, impartial jury, informed of charges against you, witness for and against you, counsel (trial process)
7th amendment
lawsuits exceeding $75,000 can be tried by a jury
8th amendment
no excessive bail, no excessive fine, no cruel and unusual punishment
9th amendment
there are other rights of citizens that are not listed within the Bill of Rights
10th amendment
those powers not listed in the Constitution are reserved to the states
