Have an effective, accurate assessment of the holistic health and fitness of our Force while providing Soldiers with the resources they need to improve and preserve individual and unit readiness. To ensure all soldiers meet the army standard of height and weight
How often are soldiers screened to ensure compliance with the regulation (ABCP)?
6 Months
What are some exemptions from the ABCP?
➢ Limb loss
➢ Pregnant and Postpartum Soldiers
➢ Soldiers who have undergone prolonged hospitalization for 30 continuous days
or greater.
➢ 540 on ACFT
What forms are used to record weight and body fat assessment?
➢ DA 5500 - Male
➢ DA 5501 - Female
What actions are required when a soldier exceeds body fat standard?
➢ Notification Counseling
➢ Flagged
➢ Must acknowledge enrollment in the ABCP by memorandum to the commander
within 2 working days of notification of enrollment.
What is considered satisfactory progress in the ABCP?
Monthly weight loss of either 3 to 8 pounds or 1% body fat
What happens if the soldier still exceeds body fat standards after 3 or more monthly assessments?
The commander will request a medical evaluation and will act according to the results.
How many pounds or percentage of fat to lose each month?
3-8 pounds or 1% body fat
