The Archers - Audience Flashcards
The BBC has recently approached themes that are less often spoken about to reach out to audiences who wish to see their own hardships reflected in the media they interact with…. e.g.
The domestic abuse storyline of Rob and Helen was built over multiple episodes, allowing audiences to be in a spectator position where they can eavesdrop into their relationship. This also coincides with the Information aspect of Blumler and Katz so that people can learn about people who experience such things.
The way in which Programmes can touch people’s lives is salient through the fact that The Archers saved up 100 000 in donations for
charities working with people suffering with domestic abuse.
